Avon :: Suede Nail Enamel (Swatches and Review)

With fall right around the corner, companies are beginning to prepare new nail polish collections for this season.

Recently, I have been sent Avon’s Suede Nail Enamel to try out – and can I just say I am in love?

Let me just say that I am not a huge fan of matte-like finishes, but with these polishes, I cannot get enough. The shimmer gives the polish depth, and leads to a smooth suede finish.

This new collection by Avon will be available in the following six shades:

  • Platinum Beauty
  • Sumptuous Rose
  • Touch of Taupe
  • Fuchsia Feel
  • Soft Violet
  • Blue Royale

Today, I am bringing you a review and swatches of two of the polishes in this 2012 fall collection: Touch of Taupe and Blue Royale.

Let’s start off with the swatches…

Touch of Taupe

Blue Royale

The gorgeous glitter and shimmer dust makes these polishes what they are. They are classy, beautiful and rich, all in one. In the photos above, one coat was applied to achieve that level of opacity. You are not meant to apply any base or top coat with these polishes, as the whole point is to get that soft, suede finish. I decided to try applying a top coat just to see how it would look, but it defeats the purpose in my opinion.

Here are photos of Touch of Taupe and Blue Royale with a top coat…

But as I previously mentioned, it completely defeats the purpose of the suede look, so I would not recommend adding that top coat unless you want that high-shine look.

Overall: Great formula, great colours, great polishes. Definitely worth the investment.

Availability: As of September 2012 through Avon Independent Sales Representatives or online at www.avon.ca.

Pricing: $6.99

  1. I got these in the blue and platinum and followed the instructions exactly duplicating the design in the Avon brochure with just one adjustment. After reading a review on another site stating that it chipped quickly, I ran a little matte top coat just along the tip edges of my nails since I strike a keyboard all day long. Today is Day 5 and I have zero chips, and it looks fabulous! I am in love with Avon suedes!

  2. I have the nail polishes. They are nice, don’t get me wrong, but I was disappointed. I had hoped they would look somewhat like they did in the picture. Usually Avon is amazing with actually having customers achieve having their products look like they do in the catalog, but not this time. Just thought I’d put my two cents in.
