China Glaze Magnetix (Swatches and Review)

Last spring, China Glaze released their own version of magnetic nail polish, called Magnetix, which consists of six polishes and a giant 3-design magnet that is purchased separately.

The six colours in this collection include:

  • You Move Me (Golden-brown)
  • Cling On (Metallic olive green)
  • Pull Me Close (Dark blue)
  • Instant Chemistry (Berry-like burgundy)
  • Drawn To You (Purple with shimmer)
  • Attraction (Metallic dark grey with shimmer)

I decided to try out Attraction and Cling On.

As for the magnet, you have three designs to choose from:

Here is the final result I ended up with…

Overall: I really liked the idea of China Glaze coming up with a magnetic polish line. Truthfully, I don’t know how often I’ll be using this. I found the magnet a little difficult to handle, but after finishing up about half my nails, I began to get the hang of it. The magnet was a disappointment for me as I felt that it was not strong enough. On the magnet packaging, it says to hold it on top of the damp nail for 5-10 seconds. That 5-10 seconds did nothing for me. If I want a solid-looking design, I had to hold it near my nail for at least 20-25 seconds.

As for the formula, you can make it by using one coat from Attraction. With Cling On on the other hand, you need at least 2-3 coats to get it fully opaque.

All in all, the formula was great but the magnet, not so much. If you have the patience to wait 20-25 seconds per nail, then by all means, this may be right for you. But if you want to see the results within a few seconds, then I wouldn’t recommend this.

If you’ve given the Magnetix line a try, what are your thoughts?
