Battle of the Mints (Swatches and Review)

Mint polishes are going to be huge this coming season. With so many to choose from, it gets overwhelming. Today I’ve decided to narrow it down to three of my favourite mint polishes:

  • China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Nails Mint Sorbet
  • Essie Mint Candy Apple

And for the comparison…

I used two coats from each polish for the pictures above. Formula wise, China Glaze’s Re-Fresh Mint was the easiest to apply, while Sally Hansen’s Mint Sorbet was the most difficult. I found Mint Sorbet to be too thick, so you really have to be patient when working with it. Essie’s Mint Candy Apple on the other hand was on the thinner side and had a blue undertone to it, whereas the other two were more pure minty. In terms of colour, I probably loved Mint Sorbet the most, but in terms of formula, I would go with Re-Fresh Mint. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Mint Candy Apple, but I just don’t feel it completely fits the mint category.

  1. I hands down agree with you. I bought Mint Candy Apple thinking it would be more of a “mint green” than it actually was. It is a beautiful color and I tend to really like the formula of Essie polish but like I said, it just wasn’t what I had expected. I think I might pick up a bottle of China Glaze Re-Fresh Mint eventually though because I don’t have a true mint green in my collection at the moment.

  2. Mint greens make my sweets loving heart happy! They always remind me of mint chocolate chip ice cream, which is my favorite. I’ve been meaning to get Re-Fresh Mint… Maybe I finally will. :)
